Adhesion tester – Ziegler FT-1000

FT-1000

Adhesion testing device according to the testing standards of FINAT* and Afera**

The ZIEGLER FT-1000 is a pull-off tester or a horizontal tensile testing machine for adhesive strength tests. The adhesive peel tester is tailored to the requirements of manufacturers, processors and users of adhesive composite materials. Its specifications correspond to the test standards of FINAT* and Afera**.

The test device has a sample table that is equipped as a movable clamp with constant feed, while the fixed clamp is rigidly coupled to the load cell. This can be used to measure properties, separation force and peel strength, e.g. at peel angles of 180° or 90° (option).

Testable Materials:

FINAT* test methods

Devices from ZIEGLER Industrie-Elektronik meet the requirements of many FINAT* FTM test methods and standards. The FINAT* test methods are used for the standardized evaluation of the properties and performance of adhesive materials, in particular adhesive labels and self-adhesive products. FINAT* (Fédération Internationale des Fabricants et Transformateurs d'Adhésifs et Thermocollants) is an international organization of the adhesive label industry that has developed these test methods to ensure comparable and reproducible quality assurance.

Supported FINAT* test methods in this device

  • FINAT* FTM 2 – Peel Adhesion (90°) At 300mm Per Minute
In accordance with the FINAT* specifications, this measurement method measures the release force that is required to remove a self-adhesive material that has been stuck to a standard test panel under previously defined conditions with a specific peel angle of 90° and a speed of 300mm/min. The first measurement is made 20 minutes after sticking. A second measurement is taken 24 hours after sticking. The last measurement is recorded as the final adhesion.

See our accessory product ZIEGLER roller peeling device for 90° pull-off according to FINAT* FTM 2.

  • FINAT* FTM 3 – Low Speed Release Force
In accordance with the FINAT* specifications, this measurement method measures the release force that is necessary to remove a material with a self-adhesive layer from its release paper (or vice versa) at a 180° angle and a peel speed of 300 mm/min.

  • FINAT* FTM 9 – Loop Tack Measurement (for an additonal charge)
This measurement method measures the "loop tack" ("tack" is sometimes also referred to as "initial grab/initial adhesion" or "application tack"). In accordance with the FINAT* specifications the device measures the force required to separate a loop of a material (adhesive outermost) at a specified speed, which has been brought into contact with a specified area of a standard surface.

  • FINAT* FTM 10 – Quality of Silicone Coated Substrates for Self-Adhesive Laminates: Release Force
In accordance with the FINAT* specifications this measurement method measures the release force to separate an adhesive coated material, which is pressure sensitive, from its backing or protective sheet (or vice versa) under specified conditions and at a specified angle and speed.

  • FINAT* FTM 11 – Quality of Silicone Coated Substrates for Self-Adhesive Laminates: Subsequent Adhesion
In accordance with the FINAT* specifications this measurement method measures, at a specified angle and speed, the force that is required to remove a pressure sensitive adhesive coated material from a standard test plate, which has previously been in contact with a silicone coated substrate under specified conditions.

  • FINAT* FTM 22 – Ink Adhesion (advanced)
This test method is assessing the adhesion of a printing ink or lacquer to a label stock, e.g. for testing of digital print media. In the FINAT* specifications, test method FTM 22 requires a tensile tester "capable of peeling a laminate through an angle of 180° at a jaw separation rate of 300 mm per minute and with an accuracy of ± 2%". The ZIEGLER FT-1000 is a tensile testing device that meets these requirements.

  • Software FTSOFT

The FTSOFT software included in the scope of delivery is used for measuring value acquisition, evaluation, logging and data storage. Measurements on the tensile testing machine can thus be safely and conveniently automated. The clear and intuitive user interface reduces training time to a minimum.
